Why trees matter

Trees support people and nature in many ways. Choosing suitable species and caring for them locally helps those benefits last.

Cleaner, cooler places

Trees provide shade, take in carbon as they grow, and help make streets and shared spaces more comfortable.

Room for nature

Well-chosen trees can provide food and habitat for birds, insects, and other local wildlife.

Healthier soil

Tree roots help hold soil in place, while leaf cover and shade contribute to a healthier local environment.

Community project

From awareness to action

The project paired conversations and education with planting, distribution, and monitoring in the community.

What the team did

  • Surveyed households and identified places that needed more greenery.
  • Held an awareness campaign with a banner, posters, and informational pamphlets.
  • Planted saplings near a road and at DLNR High School in Buchireddypalem.
  • Distributed plants to local residents and encouraged them to care for them.

What the team learned

  • Young trees need regular watering, especially during hot weather.
  • Animal damage can threaten new growth, so the team added protective fencing.
  • Compost was used as a natural fertilizer to support plant growth.
  • Local participation and follow-up are essential after a planting drive.

Weeks 5–6

Monitor & distribute

Checked plant health, distributed saplings, and coordinated care with school staff and local helpers.

Weeks 7–8

Share the work

Collected project information and photographs and built this website to spread awareness.
